How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commissioning Engineer

    Water Treatment Project | Birmingham

    Contract | ASAP Start

    £350 - £450 per day (DOE) | Ltd Company or CIS

    A leading M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major Water Treatment project in Birmingham on a contract basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project, working alongside a specialist delivery team and taking responsibility for the successful commissioning of critical water treatment systems.

    The Role

    As Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing commissioning activities across the project, ensuring systems are tested, commissioned, and handed over safely and efficiently.

    Duties will include:

    Planning and coordinating commissioning activities across mechanical and electrical packages
    Producing and reviewing commissioning documentation and procedures
    Managing subcontractors and specialist commissioning teams on site
    Witnessing testing and validation of water treatment systems
    Identifying and resolving technical issues during commissioning phases
    Ensuring all commissioning works are completed in line with client specifications and programme requirements
    Supporting project teams through final snagging, testing and handover stages
    Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and quality throughout delivery

    Requirements

    Previous experience working as a Commissioning Engineer on water treatment, water infrastructure, utilities, or industrial projects
    Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical commissioning processes
    Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and specialist subcontractors
    Ability to review commissioning plans, RAMS and technical documentation
    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    Valid CSCS card
    SMSTS or SSSTS beneficial but not essential
