How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Cadent Gas Ltd

Drive environmental excellence across major infrastructure projects

As our Environmental Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring Capital Delivery projects are delivered in a way that protects the environment, meets regulatory requirements and supports Cadent's commitment to continuous improvement. This isn't just about compliance – it's about providing expert advice, influencing positive behaviours and helping drive environmental best practice across complex project portfolios.

Working closely with Capital Delivery teams and our supply chain partners, you'll act as a trusted environmental advisor, supporting project teams to identify and manage environmental risks, improve performance and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and standards.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll combine technical expertise, stakeholder engagement and performance improvement to help deliver safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible outcomes across Cadent's projects.

This role comes with a company car and, as regular travel will be required, a full UK driving licence is essential.

    Why you'll love this role:
Environmental Leadership – Work alongside project teams and contractors to drive excellent environmental performance across Capital Delivery projects.
Trusted Technical Advisor – Become the go-to person for environmental guidance, support and expertise.
Compliance & Assurance – Provide environmental assurance and support compliance with legislation, permits and company standards.
ISO 14001 Support – Help sites achieve and maintain ISO 14001 compliance through practical support and advice.
Performance Improvement – Develop KPIs and performance measures that drive continuous environmental improvement.
Incident Support – Assist with environmental incidents, investigations and corrective actions where required.
Policy & Standards Development – Support the development and implementation of environmental policies, standards and guidance. What you'll bring:
Environmental Expertise – Experience delivering environmental management support within utilities, infrastructure, construction or regulated industries.
Legislative Knowledge – Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permits and compliance requirements.
ISO 14001 Experience – Knowledge of environmental management systems, auditing and assurance processes.
Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to influence and build strong relationships with project teams, contractors and regulatory bodies.
Performance Analysis – Experience developing performance measures, reporting and environmental improvement initiatives.
Incident Investigation Support – Experience supporting investigations and implementing lessons learned.
Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Qualifications:

Recognised environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA, ISEP, NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent).
    Full UK driving licence.

Apply now to help shape a more sustainable future by driving environmental excellence across Cadent's Capital Delivery portfolio.

Interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.

Disclaimer: While the closing date is set as mentioned, we reserve the right to close the application process earlier if necessary, depending on the unique circumstances of each role.
