How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Associate Mechanical Design Engineer
    Location: Central London
    Salary: Up to £90,000
    Benefits: 24 days annual leave + bank holidays | Hybrid working available following successful completion of probation
     
    The Role
    We are working with an established building services consultancy based in Central London that is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join its senior management team.
    This is a senior leadership position combining mechanical design, technical leadership, project delivery, team management and client management. You will take responsibility for leading multiple projects while managing and developing a team of engineers and supporting the continued growth of the business.
    You will be an experienced building services mechanical design engineer who is confident leading design across all project stages and acting as a senior point of contact for clients, architects, contractors and the wider design team.
     
    What You'll Be Doing

    Leading mechanical design across multiple building services projects
    Acting as Project Lead, taking responsibility for project delivery, fees and resources
    Managing and coordinating a team of mechanical design engineers and overseeing their day-to-day workload
    Providing technical leadership, guidance and development to engineers within the team
    Leading mechanical design from concept through to detailed design and delivery
    Reviewing and coordinating design information across all project stages
    Managing client relationships and ensuring project requirements are reflected in the design
    Acting as a key client contact at meetings, presentations and project reviews
    Coordinating with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers, contractors and other members of the design team
    Ensuring designs comply with relevant Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
    Attending site visits and ensuring design intent is maintained through delivery
    Supporting project forecasting, resource planning and workload management
    Contributing to the development of internal processes and technical standards
    Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate repeat business
    Supporting the wider senior management team with the continued development of the business What We're Looking For
    We're looking for an experienced building services mechanical design engineer with a strong technical background and proven leadership experience.
    You should have:

    Strong mechanical design experience across a range of project stages
    Experience leading multiple projects and design teams
    Experience managing and developing engineers
    Experience managing project resources and finances
    Strong client-facing and communication skills
    Experience acting as the primary point of contact for clients and external design teams
    Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
    Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
    A relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering degree
    Chartered membership of CIBSE or IMechE
    Strong understanding of sustainability and environmental design
    The ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business development Salary & Benefits
