How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Unqualified Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provisions

    Location: Burnley and surrounding areas
    Pay: £109.85 per day
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm
    Contract: Full-time, term-time only
    Start Date: Immediate starts available

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Unqualified Teaching Assistants to work within specialist educational provisions across Burnley and the surrounding areas.
    This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and want to make a positive difference to their education, development and wellbeing.
    You will work alongside experienced teaching staff to support pupils with a range of individual needs, helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide support to pupils with their learning, development and engagement in classroom activities.
    Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.
    Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and social skills.
    Assist pupils with emotional, behavioural and communication needs.
    Support teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.
    Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
    Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
    Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
    Work closely with teachers and other staff to support individual pupil needs.

    Essential Requirements

    A genuine interest in working with children and young people within specialist educational settings.
    A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
    An Enhanced DBS check for the Children's Workforce, either already in place and registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply and pay for one and register it on the Update Service.
    A minimum of 24 months of employment references, with no large or unexplained gaps in employment history.
    The ability to commit to full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time-only work.

    This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
