How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Unqualified Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision

    Location: Skelmersdale
    Salary: £109.85 per day
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 15:30pm
    Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
    Start Date: ASAP

    The Role

    Spencer Clarke Group are currently recruiting for Unqualified Teaching Assistants to work within specialist provisions across the Skelmersdale area.
    This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career within education and gain valuable experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.
    You will work alongside experienced teaching staff to provide support both in and outside of the classroom, helping pupils to engage with learning, develop their confidence and overcome barriers to education.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
    Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.
    Supporting pupils with additional, behavioural, social and emotional needs.
    Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
    Encouraging engagement, confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
    Supporting pupils to manage emotions and challenging situations.
    Helping to maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
    Following individual learning, behaviour and support plans.
    Working closely with teachers and wider support staff to meet individual needs.
    Promoting positive attitudes towards learning and personal development.

    Essential Requirements

    Enhanced Child DBS - you must already have one on the Update Service or be happy to apply and pay for a new enhanced child DBS.
    Minimum 24 months of employment references.
    No significant gaps in employment history.
    A genuine interest in supporting children and young people within specialist education.
    Reliable, patient and professional approach.
    Ability to work Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 15:30pm, during term time.
