How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Classic Car Parts & Technical Advisor

    Surrey Nr Caterham
    £30,000
    Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
    No weekends

Do you know your way around an old car?

Perhaps you’re a competent home mechanic who has spent years tinkering with classics. Maybe you currently work in a dealership or parts department and would like to do something a little more interesting. Or perhaps you’re a younger car enthusiast looking for an opportunity to turn that knowledge and enthusiasm into a career.

We’re working with a well-established specialist in the classic car sector that operates a large and successful online parts business.

They’re looking for someone to join their team in a role that sits somewhere between parts, technical support and customer service.

And importantly, this is not a target-driven sales job.

Most orders arrive through the company's online shop, so your role will be helping customers with technical and parts enquiries, taking orders from trade customers and those who prefer to order over the phone, and sorting out the occasional issue with deliveries or orders.

You'll be dealing with people who are genuinely interested in their cars, so being able to understand what they're talking about is important.

    What we're looking for

You don't necessarily need years of motor-trade experience.

You do need a genuine interest in cars and a good mechanical understanding of how they work — ideally older or classic cars.

    You could be:

    * A classic car enthusiast and competent DIY mechanic

    * An experienced Parts Advisor looking for something different

    * A Technician or Mechanic who'd like to come off the tools

    * Someone from a dealership who'd prefer a specialist environment

    * A younger enthusiast with excellent customer service and IT skills who's keen to learn

You'll also need to be comfortable speaking with customers by phone and email, have good general IT skills and be able to pick up new systems quickly.

    The package

    Starting salary: £30,000
    Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
    Weekends: None
Holiday: 20 days + Bank Holidays
Benefits: Company pension and death-in-service cover

If you're the sort of person who can talk to a customer about an old car, understand what they're trying to achieve and help them find the right part or solution, we'd love to hear from you.

No hard sell. No sales targets. No weekends. Just classic cars, parts and helping customers who share your interest
