How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a growing engineering SME to recruit a Procurement Coordinator on a permanent basis, based at their offices in Bridgwater.
This is a hands-on purchasing role supporting project delivery and day-to-day business operations. You will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, obtaining quotations, raising purchase orders, managing supplier relationships and expediting orders to ensure materials are available when required.
The role would suit someone with previous procurement, purchasing or supply chain experience who is highly organised, commercially aware and enjoys working in a busy engineering environment. There is also an opportunity to develop into broader procurement and supply chain responsibilities as the business continues to grow.
If you are a Procurement Coordinator, Purchasing Administrator, Buyer or Supply Chain professional looking for your next opportunity, submit your CV today.

Responsibilities and duties of the Procurement Coordinator role

Review project bills of materials and purchasing requirements with project and engineering teams, ensuring quantities, specifications and required dates are understood.
Identify suitable suppliers and obtain quotations in line with company procedures.
Compare quotations based on price, lead time, quality, technical requirements and risk, highlighting any significant differences or uncertainties.
Prepare, raise and administer purchase orders through the appropriate approval process, ensuring all supporting information is complete.
Maintain accurate procurement records covering quotations, orders, acknowledgements and expected delivery dates.
Expedite suppliers for order acknowledgements, delivery commitments and progress, identifying late deliveries and potential shortages at an early stage.
Work with suppliers and the production team to resolve supplier-related issues, including non-conformances, replacement requirements and corrective actions.
Support supplier approval, assessment and ongoing performance reviews, ensuring supplier records and documentation remain up to date.
Provide project teams with clear information on purchasing status, material costs, lead times, order progress and delivery risks.
Highlight where forecast material costs could exceed available project budgets and ensure potential issues are escalated before orders are released.
Identify opportunities to improve purchasing value, supplier performance, lead times and procurement controls through supplier agreements, consolidation and standardisation.
Work in accordance with company procedures and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

    Professional and Personal skills

The Procurement Coordinator role would suit someone who has:

Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, buying, supply chain coordination or a similar administration role.
Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, construction or technical environment would be beneficial.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience using purchasing, ERP or business management systems accurately and confidently.
The ability to obtain and compare supplier quotations, considering price, lead time, quality and risk.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders by phone and email.
A proactive approach to chasing outstanding information, resolving issues and ensuring orders progress to completion.
Good commercial awareness and the ability to recognise when costs, commitments or supplier issues need to be escalated.
A reliable, adaptable and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work in a growing SME environment.
Experience within a regulated industry is beneficial but not essential.

Salary and benefits of the Procurement Coordinator role

    £32,000 - £36,000
    37.5 hours per week
25 days annual leave plus public holidays
    8% employer pension contribution
    Health cash plan
    Company bonus arrangements
    Based at North Petherton, Bridgwater
Occasional travel to supplier, customer or company sites as required
