How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School

    Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire
    Start Date: ASAP
    Salary: £14.25 – £16.00 per hour
Contract: Full-time, temporary, with potential for long-term work

Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with SEND?

Do you have experience working with children with complex needs, Autism / ASC, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH or mobility challenges?

Are you patient, resilient and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning while developing their confidence and independence?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school in Chippenham, supporting children aged 4 to 11 years with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, inclusive and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to develop their confidence, communication, independence and life skills alongside their education.

The school is looking to appoint 2 Teaching Assistants on a full-time, temporary basis, working 5 days per week until half term in the first instance, with the potential for the placements to continue longer term.

The successful Teaching Assistants will work closely with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils with their learning, engagement and personal development. Some pupils have physical and mobility needs, so the role may involve supporting children with their physical development and accessing different areas of the school.

The school also has access to a hydro pool, providing additional opportunities to support pupils' physical development, wellbeing and engagement. Experience supporting children with physical or mobility needs is desirable but not essential, as appropriate training and support can be provided.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.

Experience supporting children with Autism / ASC, ADHD, SLCN or SEMH is desirable.

Experience supporting children with physical or mobility challenges is advantageous.

A patient, calm and resilient approach when supporting children with complex needs.

The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to support pupils with individual barriers to learning, communication and engagement.

A positive, flexible and adaptable attitude.

The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

A genuine commitment to helping children develop confidence, independence and resilience.

    In return, you can expect:

A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to support you throughout the onboarding process.

CPD courses and certificates through the My-Progression channel.

    Market-leading rates of pay.

TeacherActive Referral Scheme – receive up to £100 when you refer a friend. Terms and Conditions apply.

Valuable experience within a specialist SEND setting.

Ongoing support from your dedicated TeacherActive consultant.

Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can be confident that the correct level of tax and National Insurance is deducted, with no additional admin charges taken from your pay.

If you are passionate about supporting children with SEND and want to make a genuine difference within a specialist school in Chippenham, click APPLY NOW and I will be in touch to discuss this opportunity.
