How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Groundworkers/Plant Operators (Water) required:

We are currently seeking experienced and proactive Groundworkers / Site Operatives for a range of upcoming utilities and clean water infrastructure projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established civil engineering team working on vital public utility frameworks (including Scottish Water assets).
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in the civils and utilities sector, with a strong commitment to health, safety, and hygiene standards required for clean water environments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Carry out all aspects of groundworks including excavation, trenching, bedding, pipe laying to falls, backfill, and compaction.
    • Safely execute utility installation, reinstatement, ducting, and deep drainage works.
    • Work on live clean water sites, strictly adhering to DOMS (Distribution Operations Maintenance Strategy) and EUSR Water Hygiene protocols.
    • Read and accurately interpret site drawings, specifications, and drainage plans.
    • Assist with general site preparation, operative duties, and supporting machine operators where required.

    Essential Requirements & Tickets:

    • Valid CSCS Card.
    • Valid EUSR National Water Hygiene accreditation.
    • DOMS certification (essential for Scottish Water sites).
    • Proven groundworks and deep drainage experience within the civils/utility sector.
    • Full UK Driving Licence (due to the remote location of specific utility sites).

    Desirable Qualifications

    • CPCS / NPORS Dumper & Roller tickets.
    • 360 Excavator ticket.
    • NRSWA Streetworks units.
    • Confined Spaces (Medium Risk) certification.

Accommodation is not available for this role.
Ongoing long term work for the right person.
