How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About this Role

This Setting Out Engineer position offers a rare chance to shape one of the largest infrastructure developments in western Europe. You will play a crucial part in managing spatial data, handling precise setting out, and ensuring millimeter accuracy for a major cut and cover green tunnel project.

Deliver high accuracy engineering surveys and setting out on site using advanced robotic total stations.

Process complex data and establish tight survey control networks using Trimble Business Centre as your primary platform.

Produce detailed topography plans and manage digital models seamlessly alongside the project design team.

Collaborate closely with construction crews to oversee internal structural fit outs, waterproofing, and extensive earthworks.

    About You

You are a practical surveyor who thrives when working out on site alongside delivery teams rather than being tied to an office desk. Your technical expertise with modern equipment is backed up by a full driving licence and the flexibility to travel to regional project locations.

Demonstrate strong field experience with Trimble survey instrumentation alongside familiarity with Leica kit.

Possess a proven track record of managing topography mapping and engineering control on heavy civil engineering projects.

Show proficiency in using AutoCAD to process field data and update engineering drawings.

Hold a valid CSCS card alongside a formal qualification in surveying, civil engineering, or a related discipline.

    About Us

We believe in creating an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives drive innovation, and we actively welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, identity groups, and career stages. Our teams work on defining national infrastructure projects, providing an environment where your skills are respected and your career path is fully supported.

Access industry leading training and continuous professional development tailored to your career goals.

Enjoy a predictable Monday to Friday working schedule with no regular weekend shift requirements.

Work with state of the art survey technology and software in a collaborative, forward thinking team environment.

Join an organization committed to sustainable engineering practices and lowering carbon footprints in construction.

    About Your Future

Joining this project team opens up long term career progression within a massive pipeline of heavy civils work across the country. You will build highly specialized expertise in major tunnel infrastructure that will set your career apart for years to come.

Secure a permanent role with a highly competitive base salary and structured annual reviews.

Benefit from a generous subsistence allowance to fully cover accommodation and living costs if staying away from home during the week.

Progress into senior survey management or specialist digital engineering roles as the project expands.

Contribute to a lasting engineering legacy that will transform regional connectivity for generations.

Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality. No terminology in this advert is intended to discriminate against any of the protected characteristics that fall under the Equality Act 2010. We encourage and welcome applications from all sections of society and are more than happy to discuss reasonable adjustments and/or additional arrangements as required to support your application.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
