How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working within a specialist RAN Performance & Optimisation team, you'll be responsible for identifying performance issues, conducting deep technical investigations, and driving improvements across 4G/LTE public safety services.

    Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed analysis of UE logs, network traces and protocol captures to identify performance issues and service degradation.
Conduct end-to-end troubleshooting across LTE networks, including SIP signalling, Push-to-Talk (PTT), SRTP and DTLS services.
Analyse drive test logs and network protocol traces to determine root cause of defects and underperforming KPIs.
Investigate systematic issues affecting ESN performance and customer experience.
Utilise data from multiple sources including:
UE application events and Layer 1-3 logs
    Drive testing and Wireshark traces
    eNodeB and Core Network signalling
    OTT protocol traces
Coverage, capacity and OSS performance data
    Network change records
Work collaboratively with engineering, delivery and vendor teams to define and implement corrective actions.
Support the development of performance optimisation strategies, best practices and network improvements.
Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for ESN-related performance issues.

    Required Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Extensive experience within mobile telecommunications as a RAN Performance or Optimisation SME.
Strong expertise in UE log analysis, Wireshark tracing, and end-to-end network troubleshooting.
Deep understanding of 4G LTE networks, radio performance optimisation, and public safety communications.
Proven experience analysing drive test logs, protocol traces and network KPIs.
    Strong knowledge of:
    LTE signalling and procedures
    SIP protocols
    Push-to-Talk (PTT) services
    SRTP and DTLS troubleshooting

    Actix
    Wireshark
Experience working with Nokia RAN solutions.
Ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.

    Desirable Experience

Experience with LTE-based Public Safety or Mission Critical Communications networks.
Knowledge of Ericsson, Huawei or Parallel Wireless technologies.
Familiarity with 3GPP and ETSI standards.
Experience managing third-party vendors and suppliers.
Understanding of project delivery methodologies and network transformation programmes.

    What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder management skills. You'll be a proactive problem solver who can work independently, influence decisions, and drive measurable improvements in network performance.

This role would suit an experienced RAN Performance Engineer, RAN Optimisation Specialist, LTE Performance Consultant or Mobile Network SME looking to contribute to one of the UK's most critical telecommunications programmes.
