How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

Help young people overcome barriers to learning as a Maths Intervention Specialist at a school in Watford. Teaching groups of up to four pupils, you will deliver focused, personalised support that builds mathematical understanding and confidence.

You will work with Key Stage 3 pupils aged 11–14 and GCSE pupils aged 14–16, identifying gaps and breaking concepts into manageable steps. Small groups allow you to tailor explanations, provide time for practice and questions, and adjust sessions as pupils progress.

This Maths Intervention Specialist role suits a qualified maths or primary teacher with strong subject knowledge and experience teaching secondary-age pupils. A supportive ethos and structured environment will help you focus on purposeful teaching, combining high expectations with patience and encouragement.

    Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status and strong mathematics knowledge relevant to secondary-level intervention.

Experience teaching KS3 and/or GCSE maths in a school setting.

Experience assessing understanding and adapting teaching to address learning gaps.

Ability to plan and deliver effective small-group teaching.

Availability to work five full days each week.

Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete required safeguarding checks.

    Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver targeted maths interventions for groups of up to four pupils.

Strengthen KS3 and GCSE pupils understanding and prepare them for further study.

Assess prior knowledge and use findings to shape future sessions.

Explain concepts clearly through manageable steps and purposeful practice.

Monitor progress and adapt activities to individual needs.

Build pupils confidence while maintaining clear expectations for learning.

    The Ideal Candidate

You will be a patient, encouraging Maths Intervention Specialist who helps pupils feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again. Flexible in your teaching approach, you will build positive relationships through warmth and consistency, maintain high expectations and recognise that progress takes time.
