How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Help students build confidence and prepare for GCSE success as a Maths Tutor at a secondary school in Hertfordshire. Delivering individual and small-group interventions, you will tackle misconceptions, strengthen subject knowledge and develop examination skills.

Working closely with the Maths department, you will plan tuition that complements classroom learning and targets gaps in understanding. You will assess starting points, explain concepts clearly and adapt sessions as students progress, providing purposeful practice and encouragement.

This Maths Tutor role suits someone with recent GCSE Maths teaching or tutoring experience who enjoys making challenging topics accessible. You will have scope to manage sessions independently while collaborating with teachers to keep support focused and effective.

Recent experience teaching or tutoring students preparing for GCSE Maths.

Strong knowledge of the GCSE Maths curriculum and examination requirements.

Experience planning and delivering effective individual or small-group tuition.

Ability to identify learning gaps and maintain accurate progress records.

Commitment to safeguarding and an enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.

Right to work in the UK and availability for the placement.

    Key Responsibilities

Deliver targeted GCSE Maths intervention to individuals and small groups.

Align tuition with classroom learning through collaboration with the Maths department.

Identify misconceptions and plan sessions to address specific knowledge gaps.

Teach examination techniques and provide focused practice.

Monitor progress and adapt teaching to students needs.

Build confidence, engagement and positive attitudes towards maths.

    The Ideal Candidate

You will be a patient, approachable Maths Tutor with strong subject knowledge and clear explanations. Quick to recognise where understanding breaks down, you will adapt your approach and help students feel comfortable asking questions. You will combine independent session management with effective teamwork, using evidence of progress to refine your teaching.
