How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

    I am currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical Bias to join the engineering team at a busy manufacturing site in Millerdale.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an apprentice-trained or time-served engineer who enjoys a hands-on maintenance role and has strong mechanical skills, backed up by good electrical and pneumatic knowledge.

    Working as part of a small and close-knit engineering team on a fixed 4-on, 4-off night shift, you will be responsible for keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnosing breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all production equipment.

    * Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and equipment failures.

    * Diagnose faults and identify root causes to prevent repeat breakdowns.

    * Provide front-line engineering support to manufacturing and production teams.

    * Monitor plant and equipment condition, identifying potential issues before they develop into failures.

    * Complete maintenance work accurately and to a high standard, with a Right First Time approach.

    * Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments and modifications.

    * Support engineering projects, installations and continuous improvement initiatives.

    * Assist with the management and supervision of contractors when required.

    * Complete stores requisitions for engineering parts and services.

    * Maintain accurate records and detailed logs of all maintenance activities using company systems.

    * Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Shift Managers and Production teams.

    * Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety, Quality and Engineering procedures.

    * Take an active role in developing your engineering knowledge and skills through training and continuous development.

    The Equipment & Engineering Environment

    The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with a combination of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic manufacturing equipment, with exposure to:

    * Packaging and bagging machinery

    * Multihead weighers

    * Checkweighers – including equipment such as Martini, Yamato, Multipond or Ishida

    * Contactors, relays, transformers and SMPS

    * Control panels and wiring

    * Basic PLC fault finding

    * General production and manufacturing machinery

    Mechanical Skills

    Fabricating or modifying simple machine parts

    Working from measurements, drawings or specifications

    Experienced within a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.

    Strong mechanically, with good electrical and pneumatic knowledge.

    Experienced in both PPM and reactive/breakdown maintenance.

    A confident fault finder who looks beyond the immediate problem to identify root cause.

    Practical and hands-on, with good mechanical repair and fabrication skills.

    Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a small engineering team.

    Comfortable working under pressure and responding to production-critical breakdowns.

    Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of engineering and site procedures.

    A logical thinker who can find practical solutions to unexpected production problems.

    Committed to delivering a high-quality, Right First Time standard of work.
