How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    My client is an engineering leader with a strong focus on efficiency, accuracy, and technical excellence. The company supports clients across a wide range of projects and sectors.

    Their team of highly skilled engineers and dedicated support professionals combine innovation, flexibility, and industry expertise to deliver tailored solutions that add value at every stage of a project, regardless of its size or complexity.

    As leaders in environmental modelling and design, they invest continually in staff development and utilise the latest software technologies to ensure exceptional levels of accuracy, quality, and efficiency. This commitment enables them to provide reliable, forward-thinking engineering solutions that meet the evolving needs of their clients.

    Role Overview

    My client is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join their established growing building services consultancy in Kent.

    You will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects.

    The practice undertakes work both locally and throughout the UK, spanning commercial, industrial, residential and leisure projects. You’ll take ownership of your own design packages and play a key role in delivering high‑quality, efficient, and bespoke building services solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Mechanical Design & Engineering

    * Produce detailed designs, calculations, and specifications for HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and public health systems.

    * Use industry‑standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, IES) to develop coordinated mechanical layouts and models.

    * Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices (CIBSE, Building Regulations, etc.).

    * Project Delivery

    * Manage your own work packages across a variety of sectors, ensuring outputs meet quality, cost, and programme requirements.

    * Independently deliver smaller projects and contribute effectively to larger schemes.

    * Attend site visits, surveys, design team meetings.

    * Collaboration & Communication

    * Work closely with colleagues, design teams, clients and contractors to deliver fully integrated building services solutions.

    * Prepare and present technical reports, design documentation, and client‑facing materials.

    * Participate in design team meetings and contribute to technical discussions and problem‑solving.

    Required Skills & Experience

    * 5–10 years’ experience in mechanical building services design.

    * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

    * Strong understanding of HVAC principles, building physics, and mechanical systems integration.

    * Proficiency in relevant design software (AutoCAD essential; Revit/IES desirable).

    * Familiarity with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, and sustainability frameworks.

    * Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

    * Experience delivering projects from concept through to construction.

    Desirable Attributes

    * Working toward professional registration (IEng or CEng) with CIBSE or the IMechE.

    * Experience with BIM workflows.

    * Knowledge of low‑carbon technologies and energy modelling.

    * Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks across multiple projects and clients.

    What This Role Offers

    * Opportunity to take ownership of design elements and progress toward a senior role.

    * Exposure to varied and interesting projects across commercial, industrial, residential, and leisure sectors.

    * Support for professional development and chartership.

    * A collaborative consultancy environment with a strong reputation and a focus on innovation and sustainability.

    We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
