How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor – Specialist Contractor

    Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
    Salary: £45,000 + Hinkley uplift + accommodation/subsistence + package
Sector: Roofing & Cladding / Specialist Construction
    Start: ASAP / Flexible

    Quantity Surveyor – The Company

A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established specialist contractor delivering major roofing and cladding packages across the UK.

The business has a strong reputation within its sector, working with leading main contractors on large-scale and technically challenging construction projects.

They are now looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a significant package of works at Hinkley Point C.

This would particularly suit someone who has completed a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship, graduate scheme or Assistant QS role and is now looking to take the next step in their career.

    Quantity Surveyor – The Role

Working under an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for elements of the project and develop towards becoming a fully autonomous QS.

    The role will include:

    * Preparing and monitoring project budgets, revenue and costs

    * Preparing project cashflow forecasts

    * Completing valuations and applications for payment

    * Liaising and agreeing valuations with the main contractor’s commercial team

    * Identifying, pricing and managing variations

    * Supporting contract and collateral warranty reviews

    * Identifying and managing commercial risks

    * Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors

    * Agreeing subcontractor payments and reviewing invoices

    * Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts

    * Producing monthly commercial and financial reports

    * Working closely with the site, contracts and wider commercial teams

The focus is on protecting project profitability, maintaining strong cashflow and ensuring variations and completed works are properly valued and recovered.

    Quantity Surveyor – The Person

We are looking for someone at Assistant QS / intermediate Quantity Surveyor level who is ready for more responsibility.

    Ideally you will have:

    * A few years’ commercial experience within construction

    * Completed, or be close to completing, a QS apprenticeship, graduate training programme or similar route

    * A Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management qualification or relevant equivalent

    * Good commercial awareness and attention to detail

    * Strong Excel and general IT skills

    * The confidence to communicate with clients, subcontractors and operational teams

    * A positive attitude and genuine desire to develop your career

Experience within roofing, cladding or another specialist subcontracting environment would be advantageous, although the opportunity could suit someone from a broader construction background with the right commercial grounding.

    Hinkley Package & Working Arrangements

The base salary is around £45,000, with an additional uplift for working at Hinkley Point C.

Due to the site location, candidates living more than approximately 30 miles / one hour from site will be expected to lodge during the working week, with accommodation and subsistence provided as part of the Hinkley package. The position is site-based at Hinkley Point C.

This is a particularly good opportunity for an ambitious Assistant or intermediate Quantity Surveyor who wants to accelerate their development by gaining experience on a major, high-profile construction project while working alongside an experienced commercial team
