How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading critical power solutions provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability, to recruit a Senior UPS Field Service Engineer to join its growing UK service team.

    Responsibilities and duties of the Senior UPS Field Service Engineer role
    Reporting to the Service team you will:

    Install, commission and test single and three-phase UPS systems.
    Carry out load-bank testing and site acceptance testing.
    Complete planned preventative maintenance and remedial repairs on UPS systems.
    Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on UPS systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
    Act as a technical escalation point for complex faults and support root cause investigations.
    Carry out battery maintenance, installation, replacement and testing.
    Undertake site surveys and complete technical reports.
    Prepare and follow site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
    Support the training and development of junior engineers and trainees.
    Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota once fully trained and authorised.
    Travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required.

    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:

    Previous experience in a UPS or critical power field service role.
    Strong experience with UPS commissioning, maintenance, fault finding and repair.
    Knowledge of UPS communication protocols, monitoring systems and static transfer switches.
    Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to read and understand electrical circuit diagrams.
    HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
    Competent using electrical test equipment and hand tools.

    Personal skills The Senior UPS Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:

    § Good communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.

    § Customer-focused and comfortable working independently on customer sites.

    § Has a Full UK driving licence.

    § Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required, typically around one week per month.

    § Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
