How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Architect
    Location: Manchester
    Salary: Competitive
    Vacancy Type: Full time, Permanent
    About the role
We are looking for talented Senior Architects to join our award-winning team in BDP’s Manchester
studio. We are currently working on a number of exciting, innovative projects, and previous experience in the education and residential sectors would be an advantage when making your application.
You will work on a range of stages of projects and have the opportunity to be client-facing from an early stage, make key design decisions, and take responsibility for driving high-quality concepts from inception through to completion. Reporting to the Studio's Architect Director, you'll work collaboratively and creatively within a team environment, developing design concepts and leading their delivery. You will mentor junior team members and take responsibility for their output, leading collaboration with other professionals and disciplines, both inside and outside the practice, to deliver highly coordinated solutions.
    About us
BDP is a leading, global, multidisciplinary design practice united by a shared purpose: to design a world that’s built for good. For more than 60 years, we've been solving problems, creating innovative spaces, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, from homes and places to learn, to public spaces, long term sustainable placemaking and people at the heart of our thinking.
We are a diverse, international practice of architects, engineers, designers, and urbanists. We work closely with our clients, users, and communities to craft spaces for living, working, learning, and enjoying life across the globe. With studios spanning the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia, and North America, our reach is as broad as our expertise. And since joining forces with Japan’s Nippon Koei in 2016, our ability to deliver integrated, impactful design has only grown stronger.
Our work is rooted in creativity, quality, and collaboration. We believe that great design removes barriers and opens new possibilities, all while meeting the demands of a constantly evolving world. Whether we’re designing homes, workplaces, or public spaces, we always put people at the heart of our thinking, ensuring that the environments we create are not just functional, but also inclusive, beautiful, and socially and environmentally responsible.
We’re proud of the places we've shaped and the lives we've touched, and we are committed to continuing our mission of designing a better, more connected world, one that leaves every place better than we found it. Our work is shaped by a genuine commitment to low-carbon design and places that serve communities equitably.
Our founder, Professor Sir George Grenfell Baines, envisioned designing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient spaces that enrich communities and the environment. With 60 years of leaving the world
better than we found it, this progressive vision for the world is also how we run as a business. We don’t just design for inclusion; we are naturally inclusive. We work closely with local communities, and create a workplace where employee feedback is valued, all to drive real change.
