How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fleet Engineering Manager

    South Scotland

    Salary: £62,000 per annum + Company Car + Bonus + Relocation Assistance
    Full-Time | Permanent

    Are you an experienced fleet engineering professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in commercial vehicle maintenance?

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fleet Engineering Manager to join a leading passenger transport operation in South Scotland, overseeing engineering activity across South Scotland.

    This is a senior engineering position offering the opportunity to lead a diverse and widespread fleet operation, manage engineering teams and play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, compliance and fleet presentation.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Senior Engineering Management Team, you will take responsibility for the effective delivery of engineering support across the operation.

    You will lead and develop engineering teams, ensuring the fleet is maintained to the highest possible standards while meeting all statutory, legislative and company requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and manage engineering teams across South Scotland.
    Deliver effective engineering support across the fleet operation.
    Ensure high standards of fleet safety, reliability, availability and presentation.
    Manage and monitor planned and preventative maintenance programmes.
    Ensure all vehicles are maintained in accordance with statutory and legislative requirements.
    Monitor engineering performance, maintenance standards and fleet compliance.
    Promote a strong culture of health, safety and continuous improvement.
    Ensure compliance with company H&S policies, procedures and environmental standards.
    Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reliability and operational performance.
    Manage engineering resources and costs within agreed budgetary guidelines.
    Work closely with senior engineering and local management teams to support wider business objectives.
    Develop and motivate engineering personnel, providing strong leadership and technical guidance.
    Analyse engineering data, identify trends and implement appropriate corrective actions.
    Maintain effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.About You

    The successful candidate will be an experienced fleet engineering professional with a strong background in commercial vehicle, HGV or PSV engineering, combined with proven people-management and leadership experience.

    You will ideally have:

    A strong track record of delivering high-quality fleet maintenance.
    Proven experience managing engineering teams within a fleet or transport environment.
    The ability to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective preventative maintenance and repair programmes.
    Strong knowledge of health & safety, environmental and employment legislation.
    Excellent technical knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and fleet engineering.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    A commercially aware and customer-focused approach.
    Experience working within budgets and managing engineering resources.
    A proactive and innovative approach to improving fleet performance.
    Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
    The ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, from engineering teams through to senior management.What’s on Offer?
