How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We have an exciting opportunity for an aspiring or developing manager to join our Children, Families & Learning Business Support Team as a part-time Business Support Coordinator for 18 hours per week.

    Based at Dakota Building, 11 De Havilland Drive, Weybridge, KT13 0YP, this varied and rewarding role offers a starting salary of £17,330 per annum Pro Rata to £34,660 FTE.

    You'll play a key role in supporting colleagues and projects across Surrey, so a willingness to travel within the county is essential. The defined working hours for this role are:

    Wednesday 13:30 - 17:00 and
    Thursday & Friday 08:50 - 17:00Whilst you won't be required in the office 3 days a week, you will be required in the office a minimum 1 day per week.

    Our admin teams support Social Care staff, and this role will work closely with the Business Team Leader and Senior Business Team Leader to provide high quality and timely support to Social Care Practitioners.

    You will manage and develop a team of administrators to deliver a high quality and efficient service to support in delivering the overall aim of the service; to improve outcomes for children.

    You will be highly organised, willing to take responsibility, use initiative and be comfortable in setting your own priorities and meeting deadlines. You will support with implementing process improvements to streamline and improve the performance of the administration service and increase customer satisfaction.

    Your Application

    In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills:

    Have experience of guiding more junior staff

    Are keen to develop their management skills
    Have experience of overseeing team workloads and working to tight deadlines
    Have strong administrative and analytical skills, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
    Have excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to build key relationships
    Are confident, organised and work proactively
    Have excellent IT skills and is proficient in using Microsoft OfficeTo apply, we request that you submit a CV and you will be asked the following 3 questions:

    Local Government Reorganisation

    Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected. The provisional allocation for this post is East Surrey Council subject to final confirmation through the wider transition process later this year.
