How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A specialist fire safety consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to support a growing portfolio of work across Manchester and the wider North West. The successful Fire Risk Assessor will work across residential, commercial and mixed-use properties, delivering thorough assessments and practical fire safety advice.

    The Fire Risk Assessor's Role

    The appointed Fire Risk Assessor will take responsibility for carrying out detailed assessments, identifying areas of risk and helping clients maintain strong fire safety standards.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Completing fire risk assessments across a range of property types

    Identifying hazards, defects and areas of non-compliance

    Reviewing means of escape, fire doors, compartmentation and fire safety systems

    Producing clear reports with prioritised remedial recommendations

    Advising clients on fire safety responsibilities and required actions

    Reviewing existing fire safety documentation

    Liaising with property managers, building owners and contractors

    Managing site visits across Manchester and surrounding areas

    The Fire Risk Assessor

    The successful Fire Risk Assessor will ideally have:

    A recognised Fire Risk Assessment or Fire Safety qualification

    Previous experience delivering fire risk assessments independently

    Strong knowledge of current UK fire safety legislation and guidance

    Level 3 or 4 FRA qualification requried
    Experience across residential, commercial or complex buildings

    Good written reporting and communication skills

    Confidence working directly with clients and stakeholders

    Membership of the IFE, IFSM or another relevant professional body would be advantageous

    A full UK driving licence
