How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A growing fire safety consultancy is seeking an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join their team in Newcastle. The successful Fire Risk Assessor will manage a varied portfolio of properties across the North East, completing detailed assessments and providing clear, practical fire safety advice.

    The Fire Risk Assessor's Role

    The appointed Fire Risk Assessor will be responsible for undertaking high-quality fire risk assessments across residential, commercial and mixed-use buildings.

    Key duties will include:

    Completing Type 1-4 fire risk assessments where required

    Assessing fire safety measures, escape routes and compartmentation

    Identifying hazards, deficiencies and areas of non-compliance

    Producing detailed reports with clear remedial actions

    Reviewing existing fire safety documentation

    Liaising with clients, building managers and contractors

    Providing practical advice on current fire safety legislation

    Managing their own workload across Newcastle and the wider North East

    The Fire Risk Assessor

    The successful Fire Risk Assessor will be required to have:

    Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualification

    Strong experience carrying out fire risk assessments

    Good knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and current UK fire safety guidance

    Experience working across a variety of building types

    Strong report-writing and client-facing skills

    Ability to work independently and manage multiple assessments

    A full UK driving licence

    Membership of a recognised professional body such as the IFE would be advantageous.
