How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HSE Advisor – Midlands & West of England
    Location: Midlands (Stafford hub, home working & site-based)
    Reporting to: HSEQ Manager

    AMB Recruitment Group is currently recruiting for an experienced HSE Advisor to join a growing organisation operating across the Midlands and West of England. This is a varied role involving regular travel to sites, time at a Stafford-based hub, and flexible home working. The position would ideally suit candidates based in Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire.

    The Role
    As HSE Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in promoting a positive health and safety culture across multiple sites. Working closely with the HSEQ Manager, you’ll ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental legislation while supporting the delivery of best-in-class HSEQ standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures

    Develop, review, and enforce safe systems of work

    Carry out regular site inspections and audits

    Deliver in-house health and safety training

    Maintain accurate records, reports, and improvement plans

    Manage incident reporting and lead investigations

    Stay up to date with relevant HSE legislation and best practice

    Provide specialist advice on areas such as fire safety and hazardous substances

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Strong technical knowledge of health and safety standards

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to analyse complex information and present it clearly

    Strong IT skills with high attention to detail

    Full UK driving licence (essential)

    IOSH qualification or equivalent

    Desirable

    Experience with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 27001:2013

    Background in construction or industrial environments

    Understanding of environmental and sustainability practices
