How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Trescal is looking for a Senior Calibration Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, offering varied work and the chance to make a real impact.

    About the RoleAs a Senior Calibration Technician at Trescal, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality calibration services to our diverse client base. You will be responsible for performing advanced calibration and measurements in accordance with UKAS and traceable procedures, as well as specific customer requirements. Your duties will include maintaining accurate and traceable records of work, data, and results using our calibration management systems.

    Calibrate a wide range of measuring equipment across multiple disciplines, including dimensional, mechanical, electrical, temperature, pressure, and mass.
    Develop, review, and audit both automated and manual calibration procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
    Provide technical support and mentoring to colleagues, assisting with their orientation and ongoing development.
    Participate in internal and external audits, supporting continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
    Analyse complex technical issues and deliver practical solutions, drawing on your expertise and experience.
    Ensure all calibration activities are completed in line with Health and Safety procedures, company policies, and recognised standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
    Maintain calibration instrumentation, equipment, and facilities to the required standards, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements.
    Occasionally undertake other duties within your capabilities, with appropriate training provided as needed.

    Requirements

    Proven experience working in a calibration laboratory or similar technical environment.
    Technical qualification such as HND, HNC, NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
    Strong knowledge of calibration practices, metrology, and theories, with practical experience across multiple disciplines.
    Good understanding of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS calibration procedures.
    Competence in using Windows-based operating systems and laboratory management software (e.g., Indysoft).
    Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in a customer-focused environment.
    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing your own workload effectively.
