Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Agent to join a major infrastructure project in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile civil engineering scheme, taking responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of project activities while coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

We are looking for a proactive construction professional with strong leadership skills, a sound understanding of contracts and project delivery, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

Acting as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives on site.

Supporting the administration and management of subcontractor agreements and purchase orders.  

Monitoring progress and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme requirements and project specifications.

Coordinating site logistics, inspections, deliveries, and construction activities.

Preparing project reports, documentation, and correspondence relating to progress and contractual matters.

Working closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, and site teams to resolve operational and commercial issues.

Assisting with claims, dispute resolution, and risk management activities where required.

Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Supporting project cost control and programme management activities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

A relevant qualification such as an NVQ Level 3, HNC, Degree, or equivalent in a construction-related discipline.

SSSTS or SMSTS certification.

Proven experience within civil engineering, construction delivery, site management, or project coordination environments.

A strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, and site operations.

Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management systems.

Professional membership or progression towards chartership with ICE, IStructE or a similar institution would be advantageous.
