How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
    Our client is a well-established and growing building services consultancy delivering a wide range of projects across multiple sectors. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and collaborative working, they provide innovative engineering solutions from concept through to completion. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their established team.
    Your new role
    As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of electrical building services designs across a variety of projects. Working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will be involved in all aspects of design development from initial concept through to detailed design and project completion.Key responsibilities will include:

    Supporting senior engineers in the design and delivery of building services projects.
    Producing electrical designs in accordance with current regulations, standards and project requirements.
    Preparing detailed calculations, specifications, drawings and technical schedules.
    Coordinating with internal and external project stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
    Maintaining accurate project documentation, calculations and correspondence.
    Undertaking site surveys, inspections, commissioning activities and testing where required.
    Assisting with budget estimates, cost planning, tender documentation and contract administration activities.
    Attending project meetings and providing technical input throughout the design process.
    Managing and delivering allocated project tasks to programme and budget.
    Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and trainees where appropriate.What you'll need to succeed
    To be considered for this position, you should possess:

    A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
    Previous experience within building services consultancy or a similar environment.
    Good understanding of electrical building services design principles and relevant industry standards.
    Experience producing calculations, technical specifications and design drawings.
    Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
    Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and Building Regulations.
    Membership of, or progression towards membership of, a recognised professional institution such as IET or CIBSE would be advantageous.
