How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Software Engineer - Software Factory

    Initial 6 Month contract - Inside IR35 - market rate

    Reading based - hybrid working -2 days a week onsite

    Defence sector - must have current and active SC Clearance

    Job purpose

    The ICT Engineer supports the implementation, operation, maintenance, and evolution of Software Factory platforms, development toolchains, and automation capabilities.

    Key Accountabilities and Objectives​

    Accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

    Support software development, build, test, and deployment activities.
    Configure and maintain Software Factory tools and environments.
    Develop scripts and automation utilities.
    Support platform integration and operational activities.
    Troubleshoot technical issues and support end users.Lifecycle Management

    Support platform maintenance and upgrades.
    Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Support deployment and release activities.Governance

    Ensure compliance with engineering standards and processes.
    Maintain configuration and operational documentation.
    Support audit and quality assurance activities.

    Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
    2+ years of experience in Software Factory, DevOps, CI/CD, or ALM environments.Desirable Qualifications

    Microsoft Azure Devops certification or other CI/CD environments

    Skills and Experience:

    Essential:

    DevOps and CI/CD fundamentals.
    Version control and software development processes.
    Scripting and automation.
    Troubleshooting and problem solving.
    Team collaboration and communication.

    Desirable:

    Experience with Software Factory environments.
    Model-Based Development exposure.
    Cloud, container, or infrastructure automation experience.
    Experience working with MoD and Defence Prime system integrators and suppliers preferably in aerospace.
    Experience working transnationally.
    Familiarity with system, data and technical architecture.
    Architecture across the full system engineering lifecycle.
    Effective communication and management of stakeholders including Product Owners, Delivery Managers, Engineers, IT team and end users to ensure all needs are considered and expectations are managed.
