How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Classroom Recruiters are currently looking for Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Derbyshire and the surrounding areas.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are passionate about supporting young people and are looking for flexible work within education. Previous school experience is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.

    The role can offer day-to-day work as well as longer-term opportunities, depending on your availability and the needs of our schools.

    The Role

    As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide classroom cover when teachers are absent, ensuring pupils remain engaged and continue with the work provided by the class teacher.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Supervising classes during teacher absences

    * Taking the class register

    * Ensuring pupils remain focused and on task

    * Managing classroom behaviour effectively

    * Supporting pupils with their learning where appropriate

    * Following school policies and procedures

    * Creating a positive and productive learning environment

    * Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff

    * Reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff

    What We're Looking For

    We're keen to hear from candidates who are:

    * Passionate about working with young people

    * Confident communicating with secondary-age pupils

    * Reliable, professional and organised

    * Able to manage a classroom confidently

    * Calm and adaptable when dealing with different situations

    * Comfortable working independently

    * Available for morning cover when required

    * Interested in gaining experience within a secondary school environment

    Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential. Experience in teaching, tutoring, coaching, youth work, childcare or similar roles would be beneficial.
