How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Move beyond routine compliance into a role where your corporate tax expertise can make a real impact. Advise a varied OMB client base, take greater ownership and help shape the future development of the firm's tax services.

    Client Details

Our client is a long-established independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, supporting businesses and individuals across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the surrounding area. Celebrating 80 years in 2026, the firm remains independent and has developed many client relationships over decades, with several of its current Partners having originally joined the business as trainees.

The practice works with businesses throughout their lifecycle, from new ventures and growing owner-managed businesses through to established companies considering expansion, succession or exit. Its emphasis is on personal, practical advice and building relationships that extend well beyond annual compliance.

    Description

Manage corporation tax compliance for OMBs and small corporate groups
Take ownership of returns, computations and associated filings
Coordinate corporate tax requirements for audit clients
Review work prepared by colleagues and provide technical guidance
Advise clients on corporation tax planning opportunities
Identify tax risks and areas requiring further specialist advice
Advise on losses, capital allowances and financing matters
Support clients with close company and associated company issues
Gain exposure to group taxation, reorganisations and transactions
Work on current and deferred tax provisions for audit clients
Research and advise on complex or less routine tax matters
Work collaboratively with colleagues across audit, accounts and tax
Develop strong, long-term relationships with business owners
Keep colleagues informed of relevant legislative and HMRC developments

    More Generally:

Handle any HMRC enquiries or investigations on behalf of clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Corporate Tax Manager or established corporate tax specialist looking for greater ownership, client contact and advisory exposure within an independent accountancy practice.

You will become a key point of expertise for corporation tax, taking ownership of a predominantly owner-managed business and small corporate group portfolio while working closely with colleagues across accounts, audit and the wider tax team.

This isn't intended to be a purely compliance-led position.

Alongside overseeing corporation tax returns and computations, you'll have the opportunity to advise businesses on their wider tax position, identify planning opportunities and help clients navigate increasingly complex tax requirements.

The firm's existing corporate tax offering encompasses compliance and tax planning alongside areas including VAT, HMRC enquiries, international tax, transfer pricing, corporate interest restriction and cross-border tax matters, creating scope for genuinely varied work.

For someone who enjoys understanding the wider commercial picture behind a client's tax affairs, this represents an opportunity to become a trusted adviser rather than simply managing deadlines.

You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to how the firm's tax offering develops, identifying process improvements, potential new services and opportunities to provide additional support to existing clients.

Depending on your background and interests, there can also be exposure to wider areas including private client tax, VAT, CIS, international tax and transfer pricing.

    Profile

You are likely to be an established corporate tax professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with direct client relationships.

    Ideally, you will have:

Strong UK corporation tax compliance experience
    Good corporate tax advisory exposure
    Experience working with owner-managed businesses
Experience with small groups and close companies
Confidence reviewing computations and supporting colleagues
An ability to identify planning opportunities and technical risks
    Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills
A commercial approach to explaining complex tax matters
Experience working alongside audit and accounts professionalsCTA qualification would be highly desirable, although candidates with an ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification and substantial corporate tax experience should also be considered.

Experience of corporate reorganisations, transactions, international tax, transfer pricing, ERS reporting or charities would be particularly useful but isn't expected across every area.

    Job Offer

Salary range of £60,000 - £75,000, dependent on the level of experience.
