This is an opportunity to step into a well-established laboratory operation and make an immediate impact. The focus is on driving performance, maintaining high standards and ensuring the laboratory continues to deliver exceptional levels of quality, service and operational excellence.

Operating within an ISO 17025 accredited environment, you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of a large and diverse testing facility. Managing a team of experienced managers, you'll oversee multiple testing functions, ensuring customer commitments are achieved whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality, compliance and operational performance.

This role combines operational leadership with continuous improvement. You'll be responsible for driving productivity, improving processes, managing resources effectively and ensuring the laboratory continues to meet both commercial and operational objectives. The business is looking for an experienced contractor who can provide strong leadership, stability and expertise from day one.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, taking ownership of performance, quality and delivery whilst ensuring the laboratory remains compliant with relevant standards and regulations. The environment would suit someone who is comfortable operating at leadership level, managing multiple priorities and driving improvements through both people and process.

The contract will be offered on a rolling three-month basis, with flexibility on day rate depending on experience. There is also the possibility of a longer-term opportunity for the right individual should there be mutual interest.

Key Skills & Experience

• Significant experience leading a laboratory, testing or technical operations environment

• Strong understanding of ISO 17025 and quality management systems

• Proven leadership experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams

• Experience driving operational performance, quality and service delivery

• Strong understanding of resource planning, workload management and operational efficiency

• Experience managing budgets, financial performance and commercial objectives

• Ability to lead continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience preparing for and supporting internal and external audits

• Understanding of testing, certification or regulated technical environments

• Ability to use operational data and performance metrics to drive decision making

Contract Details

• Rolling 3-month contract

• Day rate negotiable depending on experience

• Based in Hemel Hempstead
