SQL DBA (Database Administrator) to join my client’s dynamic database team on a 6-month contract - which could run for up to 2 years.
As a SQL DBA, you will play a key role in ongoing projects, independently managing tasks, making informed decisions, and working closely with the team. The position involves the installation, migration, and support of Legacy SQL 2008 / 2012 and SQL BI stacks across the business to SQL 2019 and SQL 2022.
Key Responsibilities of the SQL DBA:
Must be current SC Cleared or recently expired Security Clearance
Lead the migration legacy SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2016 to newer SQL Server 2019, SQL Server 2022 and soon SQL Server 2025
Experience in performing in-place migrations
Aware of the feature differences between SQL 2012/2016 and SQL 2019/2022
Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including SQL BI Stack, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Visual Studio, and SQL Server Management Studio.
Design and develop reliable SQL and database solutions
Proven experience in migrations projects - ability to talk through challenges and pinpoint any potential issues
Improve performance by optimizing BI-related code and analysing SQL queries
Support the entire data lifecycle in an agile environment
Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Git, and PowerShell is advantageous.
This role is based in central London, and the SQL DBA will need to be on-site for two days per week. This SQL DBA position will require out of hours work to support migrations when required.
Please note that the SQL DBA must have valid, active Security Clearance for this position - They will look at candidates with recently lapsed SC Clearance
