How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a caring, dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to a young person's education and wellbeing?

    We are seeking a specialist teaching assistant to work with students needs in an EOTAS (Education Other than at School) setting in Canterbury. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised support to a student who benefits from a tailored approach to learning outside of a traditional school environment.

    The Role

    As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the student and the wider education team to create a positive, supportive and engaging learning experience. You will help the student access their education, build confidence and develop important academic, social and life skills.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Providing dedicated one-to-one support tailored to the student's individual needs.
    Supporting learning activities and helping the student stay engaged and motivated.
    Building a positive, trusting relationship with the student.
    Encouraging confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
    Adapting your approach to meet changing needs and circumstances.
    Working collaboratively with teachers, families and other professionals.
    Maintaining a calm, patient and consistent approach at all times.About You

    We are looking for someone who is:

    Passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
    Patient, empathetic and resilient.
    Confident adapting learning and communication approaches.
    Able to build strong, positive relationships.
    Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
    Experienced working with children or young people with additional needs is desirable.Previous experience in an EOTAS, SEN, alternative provision or specialist education setting would be advantageous, but the right attitude, commitment and willingness to learn are equally important.
