The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional RF design role.
You'll take ownership of RF hardware development across a portfolio of sophisticated wireless systems, helping shape the next generation of products that incorporate advanced cellular and radio technologies.
Working in a small, highly capable engineering team, you'll have genuine authority to influence architecture decisions, challenge existing approaches and drive innovation from concept through to production.
You'll remain involved throughout the complete product lifecycle rather than handing designs over after schematic completion.
What You'll Be Doing
* Defining RF architectures for next-generation wireless products
* Designing transmit and receive signal chains
* Selecting amplifiers, filters, mixers, switches and RF components
* Producing schematics and supporting PCB layout activities
* Developing mixed-signal and RF hardware for advanced radio systems
* Bringing up prototype hardware and validating performance
* RF testing, fault-finding and optimisation in the laboratory
* Supporting EMC, environmental and regulatory compliance activities
* Introducing designs into production and supporting ongoing product improvements
* Collaborating closely with software, systems, mechanical and manufacturing teams
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
* Strong commercial experience in RF hardware design and development
* Experience taking complex hardware from concept through to production
* RF transmit and receive chain design expertise
* Practical RF PCB design experience
* Strong debugging and fault-finding skills
* Experience using RF laboratory equipment including:
* Spectrum analysers
* Network analysers
* Signal generators
* RF power measurement equipment
* Knowledge of EMC/EMI principles and compliance techniques
* Ability to work independently and take technical ownership
Highly Desirable
Cellular communications experience (GSM, UMTS, LTE and/or 5G)
Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware experience
Multi-band RF system design
Experience with:
RF power amplifiers
LNAs
Filters
Duplexers
RF switches
RF simulation tools (ADS, CST, HFSS or equivalent)
Experience supporting radio or regulatory approvals
Low-to-medium volume electronics production experience
