How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Motor Vehicle Lecturer – Automotive

    Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
    Contract: Full-Time
    Sector: Further Education / Automotive

    We are recruiting for a Motor Vehicle Lecturer to join an established Automotive department within a leading Further Education college in Newcastle.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Motor Vehicle Lecturer, Automotive Lecturer, Vehicle Technician or Motor Mechanic with strong practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.

    The Role

    You will:

    *

    Deliver engaging Motor Vehicle / Automotive lessons across a range of FE levels.

    *

    Teach both practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory.

    *

    Cover areas including vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, fault finding and repair.

    *

    Deliver and assess Motor Vehicle qualifications and apprenticeship provision.

    *

    Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.

    *

    Support learners with assignments, practical assessments and portfolio work.

    *

    Maintain high standards of health and safety within automotive workshops.

    *

    Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance.

    About You

    Ideally, you will have:

    *

    A recognised Motor Vehicle / Automotive qualification at Level 3 or above or equivalent industry experience.

    *

    Strong occupational experience within vehicle maintenance and repair.

    *

    Experience as a Vehicle Technician, Motor Mechanic, Automotive Technician or similar.

    *

    A recognised teaching qualification and/or experience teaching within Further Education.

    *

    Experience with IMI, City & Guilds or similar Motor Vehicle qualifications would be advantageous.

    *

    Strong practical workshop skills and technical knowledge.

    *

    Good communication and learner management skills.

    Experienced industry professionals looking to move into teaching are also encouraged to apply.
