About the Role:
Help children feel confident, included and ready to learn as a Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant at a welcoming primary school in Barnet.
Joining an established classroom team, you will provide focused individual support for pupils with additional needs, including autism. You will help children access lessons, build friendships and develop independence, offering reassurance and practical support throughout the school day.
Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team, you will support transitions, social times and classroom routines using calm, consistent strategies. This role suits someone patient and observant who recognises the value of small steps forward.
Requirements:
Experience supporting children with autism or other special educational needs.
Experience with primary-aged children in a school or similar setting.
Relevant training in supporting children with additional needs.
The right to work in the UK and suitable professional references.
Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and safer recruitment checks.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual support during lessons and shared activities.
Encourage participation, confidence and independence.
Support transitions and social times through positive, consistent approaches.
Recognise when pupils need reassurance, movement breaks or a quieter space.
Share observations and adapt support alongside the class teacher and SEN team.
