How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Registered Children's Manager

    3-Bed EBD Children's Home | LE67

Salary: Competitive and flexible, dependent on experience - the focus is on finding the right person
    Annual Leave: 31 days
Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare: Desirable

We are supporting an established specialist children's care provider in the appointment of an experienced Registered Children's Manager for their 3-bed EBD home in the LE67 area.

This is an established home with a strong operational foundation and no current compliance concerns. The home was rated Good in its most recent Ofsted inspection and provides care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The provider is looking for an experienced childcare professional who can take ownership of the home, lead the staff team and continue building on the existing standards and outcomes.

They are open to both experienced Registered Managers and strong Deputy Managers who are ready to take their next step into registration.

    About the provider

The organisation is an established specialist provider of residential care for children and young people, with a focus on creating safe, supportive and nurturing environments where young people can develop and achieve positive outcomes.

They place a strong emphasis on staff development, training and progression, with employees supported through ongoing professional development and opportunities to progress within the organisation.

The management structure is described as supportive and approachable, with Registered Managers receiving access to senior management and director-level support when required.

    The Role

As Registered Children's Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the service continues to provide high-quality care and meets all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Taking overall responsibility for the management and operation of the children's home.
    * Ensuring the home continues to meet Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards and safeguarding requirements.
    * Leading, motivating and developing the staff team.
    * Providing strong leadership and maintaining a positive culture within the home.
    * Ensuring children and young people receive high-quality, individualised care.
    * Overseeing care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and records.
    * Monitoring children's progress and ensuring their individual needs and outcomes remain central to the service.
    * Working closely with social workers, education professionals, families and other external agencies.
    * Managing staff performance, supervision, development and training.
    * Maintaining strong compliance and quality assurance processes.
    * Preparing for and supporting Ofsted inspections.
    * Monitoring the home's performance and identifying opportunities for continued improvement.
    * Managing budgets, staffing levels and resources effectively.
    * Ensuring the home remains a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for the young people living there.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced children's care professional with a strong understanding of residential childcare and the needs of children and young people with EBD.

    You could be:

    * An experienced Registered Manager looking for a new challenge; or
    * A strong Deputy Manager who is ready to step up into a Registered Manager position.

    You will ideally have:

    * Previous experience within children's residential care.
    * Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations.
    * Experience leading and developing a residential childcare team.
    * A good understanding of safeguarding, care planning and risk management.
    * Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    * The ability to lead from the front while developing and supporting your team.
    * A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
    * A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or a willingness/ability to work towards one.
Level 5 is desirable rather than essential for the right candidate.

Most importantly, the provider is looking for the right person rather than simply the right qualification or salary expectation. They have specifically indicated that salary is flexible and will not be a barrier when it comes to securing the right individual for the home.

    What's on Offer?

    * Highly competitive salary - genuinely flexible for the right candidate
    * 31 days' annual leave
    * Ongoing training and professional development
    * Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
    * Strong support from senior management and directors
    * Regular training and development opportunities
    * Career progression opportunities within an expanding organisation
    * Team-building events and staff recognition
    * A supportive and approachable management structure
    * The opportunity to lead an established 3-bed EBD home
    * A home with an existing Good Ofsted rating
    * The opportunity to build on an established service rather than taking on a home with significant compliance issues

    The Opportunity

This is a good opportunity for an experienced children's professional who wants genuine ownership of a home and the support to succeed in the role.

Whether you're an established Registered Manager or an experienced Deputy ready to make the step up, the provider is prepared to be flexible on salary and experience for the right person.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to a well-established children's home while having strong senior management support behind you, we'd be interested in hearing from you.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
