Senior Quantity Surveyor

Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor with at least 3 years' experience operating at Senior level?

Location: New Eltham, South East London - home working 2 days per week after probation is passed
 
Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 per annum DOE + £6,000 car allowance and up to 10% discretionary bonus scheme
 
For candidates currently operating at Commercial Manager level, there may be flexibility to consider salaries at a higher level, depending on experience.

Due to continued growth, significant contract wins and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming facilities management work, my client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role within their rapidly expanding FM division.
 
The business currently delivers approximately £25m of FM works across public-sector and educational assets, including work for London boroughs and educational institutions. The portfolio covers Fabric, Mechanical, Electrical and Gas works and is predominantly delivered under amended JCT MTC and NEC4 contracts.
 
This area is currently one of the quickest expanding parts of the business, with two significant contracts recently secured and the potential for further multi-million-pound opportunities.
 
Projects currently range from approximately £250k up to £3.5m in value, with the business also anticipating opportunities that could reach approximately £10m in the future. As a result, the successful candidate will need to combine a strong FM, maintenance or small works background with experience commercially managing larger-value projects.
 
This is a key hire for the business and an excellent opportunity to join a well-established SME contractor with a strong reputation across the South and East of England. The position would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys variety, pace and autonomy and is comfortable taking responsibility for both the commercial delivery of projects and the development of a growing team.
 
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:
·Taking a leading role within the Facilities Management division and overseeing its commercial function
·Managing and developing the commercial team, currently consisting of a Quantity Surveyor and two Technical Quoters, with the team expected to continue growing
·Full commercial management of FM, maintenance and project contracts
·Reviewing and commercially assessing client contract documents, identifying and advising on risk and opportunity
·Managing commercial interaction with clients and providing commercial support to operational and project teams
·Procurement and management of supply chain resources to meet programme requirements and maximise profitability
·Forecasting and monthly cost/value reporting
·Effective change control to maximise revenue and profit opportunities while reducing commercial risk
·Weekly programme reviews and analysis of variances against planned delivery
·Maximising cash collection across the portfolio
·Supporting Estimating and Operations teams with the development of bid submissions
·Leading and mentoring members of the commercial team and supporting their ongoing development
·Managing multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
 
Requirements:
·A minimum of 3 years' experience operating specifically as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with approximately 5 years at Senior QS level preferred due to the seniority of the position
·A background in facilities management, maintenance or small works environments
·Experience commercially managing larger projects, ideally with values up to approximately £3.5m
·Experience working with bespoke or amended JCT contracts
·Experience working with NEC contracts, ideally NEC4
·Comfortable managing multiple fast-turnaround projects and contracts simultaneously
·Previous experience leading, managing and mentoring commercial staff
·Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify contractual risk and commercial opportunity
·HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
·Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
·Full UK driving licence
 
The business would also consider an experienced Commercial Manager for this opportunity. Candidates at this level would need a minimum of approximately 3 years' Commercial Manager experience and should still be comfortable remaining involved in the day-to-day commercial management of projects rather than operating solely at a strategic level.
