How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We’re looking for an experienced Mobile Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical/plumbing bias to join our engineering team, delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of client sites throughout the South.

You’ll be responsible for keeping mechanical and associated building services safe, compliant and operating effectively, carrying out PPM, reactive repairs and fault finding across a range of commercial environments.

This is a mobile role working as part of an established engineering team, with additional support provided to our static sites when required.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across client sites.

Maintain, repair and fault-find mechanical, plumbing and associated building services.

Undertake maintenance and first-line diagnostics across systems including boilers, pumps, ventilation, low-pressure hot water systems, pressurisation systems, sanitary and drainage systems.

Respond to BMS alarms and use building systems to support first-line fault diagnosis.

Carry out plant start-up, shutdown, changeover and routine operational checks.

Maintain comfortable and efficient environmental conditions through the effective operation of HVAC plant.

Carry out minor repairs, maintenance and small installation works as required.

Complete regular plant-room and building-services inspections, identifying defects, hazards and potential failures.

Ensure statutory PPM is completed within required timescales and escalate anything that cannot be completed.

Maintain accurate service reports, test records, logbooks and compliance documentation.

Complete all maintenance activity accurately within simPRO, including required photographs and job information.

Review and monitor specialist subcontractors while working on site.

Ensure permits, safe systems of work and relevant Health & Safety procedures are followed.

Safely isolate and make plant and pressure systems safe where required.

Communicate clearly with clients, site teams, supervisors and other engineers regarding maintenance activity and its potential impact.

Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota.

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential:

    City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Plumbing qualification.

Previous experience within a commercial building services/FM maintenance environment.

Strong experience carrying out PPM, reactive maintenance and fault finding.

Good practical knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.

Good understanding of safe working practices and relevant Health & Safety requirements.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Able to work independently across multiple sites while also working effectively as part of a wider engineering team.

Experience across BMS, boilers, pumps, generators, ventilation, controls, drainage, pressurisation systems, LPHW, ACOP L8 and cooling systems would be advantageous.

    Additional Qualifications

    The following would be advantageous:

    Your Team

You’ll be joining an established engineering operation consisting of 7 mobile engineers, 4 supervisors and 4 contract managers.

The team works collaboratively across the portfolio, with engineers supported by experienced supervisors and contract management. Alongside your core mobile portfolio, you’ll also provide engineering support to static sites where required.

    On-Call

The role participates in a 1-in-7 call-out rota, providing out-of-hours support to our clients.

You’ll receive a £200 standby payment for the on-call week, plus additional call-out pay.

There may also occasionally be a requirement for overtime during evenings, weekends or public holidays depending on client and business requirements.

    Training & Progression

We want our engineers to continue developing with us.

Training and progression opportunities will be tailored to your existing experience and career goals and could include further technical qualifications or Health & Safety development.
