How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Triage and Accommodation Officer
    Housing Department
    Salary Grade 4 £29,542 - £32,046 per annum
    Full Time, 37 hours per week
    Help people find solutions, stability and a place to call home.
    Are you passionate about helping people and making a positive impact in your community? Do you enjoy solving problems, supporting others and delivering excellent customer service? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
    Bassetlaw District Council is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Triage and Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Solutions Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support residents facing homelessness or housing difficulties while helping to deliver effective housing solutions across the district.
    About the Role
    As the first point of contact for residents seeking housing assistance, you will play a crucial role in helping people access the support they need. You will provide advice, guidance and practical assistance to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, carrying out initial assessments in line with housing legislation and statutory guidance.
    You will also help coordinate and manage temporary accommodation placements, ensuring that residents are supported appropriately while longer-term housing solutions are explored.
    No two days are the same. This is an exciting and varied role that offers the opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives while developing valuable skills and experience within housing and homelessness services.
    About You
    We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people, committed to delivering excellent customer service and eager to learn.
    Whilst experience of housing, homelessness or tenancy services would be beneficial, it is not essential. We recognise that valuable skills and experience are gained in many different sectors and environments. If you have experience in customer service, health and social care, support services, benefits, advice work, public services, voluntary organisations or other people-focused roles, we would welcome your application.
    Most importantly, you will have:
    * A genuine desire to support people through challenging situations.
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    * The ability to listen carefully, gather information and identify solutions.
    * Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
    * A proactive, positive and resilient approach.
    * A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
    * The ability to work sensitively and professionally with vulnerable individuals and families.
    We are committed to investing in our people and will provide training, guidance and support to help you develop your knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness prevention and accommodation management. If you bring enthusiasm, compassion and a willingness to learn, we will support you to develop the specialist skills needed to succeed in this role.
    No previous housing experience? Don't let that stop you applying. If you can demonstrate transferable skills, a strong customer focus and a commitment to learning, we'd love to hear from you.
    Why Join Bassetlaw District Council?
    At Bassetlaw District Council, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to be a forward-thinking organisation that values, develops and supports its employees.
    In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including:
    * Generous annual leave entitlement.
    * Local Government Pension Scheme.
    * Healthcare Cash Plan.
    * Family-friendly policies.
    * Access to a range of employee benefits.
    * Learning and development opportunities.
    * A supportive team environment where your contribution is valued.
    This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career while making a positive difference to residents across the district.
