How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a technically minded sales professional who enjoys solving customer problems, understanding industrial applications and turning technical enquiries into commercial opportunities?

Consulo are proud recruitment partners to an established international manufacturer and engineering business with a strong presence across industrial manufacturing, automation, material handling and process applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of sales but also has the commercial drive to develop customers, progress quotations and win business.

The position combines Technical Sales, Internal Sales, Applications Engineering, and Customer Support. You will work directly with industrial customers, helping them identify the right technical solution for their application and supporting the opportunity from initial enquiry through quotation and ultimately to order.

    What you'll be doing

    • Handling technical and commercial enquiries from new and existing industrial customers
    • Understanding customer applications and recommending appropriate technical solutions
    • Preparing technical quotations, proposals and pricing
    • Following up quotations and proactively progressing opportunities through to order
    • Developing existing customer accounts and identifying new sales opportunities
    • Supporting new business development and outbound customer activity
    • Providing technical sales and applications support to customers and colleagues
    • Reviewing technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements
    • Using CAD / technical drawings where required to support customer applications
    • Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Operations and Supply Chain
    • Supporting customers with product selection, specification, installation and application queries
    • Identifying opportunities for upselling, cross-selling and alternative technical solutions
    • Occasionally visiting customer sites to understand applications and resolve technical challenges

    Who could this suit?

We are deliberately keeping the background relatively open.

You could currently be working as a Technical Sales Engineer, Internal Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, Sales Support Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, Internal Sales Executive, Technical Sales Executive or Applications Sales Engineer.

Experience within any of the following areas could be highly relevant:

Conveyor Systems, Conveyor Belting, Process Belting, Industrial Belting, Material Handling, Power Transmission, Mechanical Components, Industrial Components, Automation, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Production Equipment, Machinery, Engineering Components or Industrial Equipment.

Previous belting experience would be advantageous, but it is NOT essential. We are equally interested in candidates with strong mechanical or industrial technical aptitude who can learn a new product portfolio.

    What we're looking for

    • Strong technical or mechanical aptitude
    • Experience within technical sales, internal sales, applications, engineering support or industrial customer service
    • Ability to understand industrial applications and customer requirements
    • Commercial awareness and confidence progressing sales opportunities
    • Experience producing quotations and dealing with technical enquiries
    • Strong B2B customer communication and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to interpret technical information, specifications or drawings
    • CAD / technical drawing experience would be advantageous
    • SAP, SAP SD, SAP C4C or similar ERP / CRM experience would be beneficial
    • Experience within industrial manufacturing, engineering, conveyors, material handling, mechanical components or power transmission would be particularly relevant

    Why consider this opportunity?

This isn't simply an order-processing position.

You'll become an important technical and commercial contact for customers, helping solve real engineering and application challenges while developing accounts and generating new business.

It offers an interesting middle ground between Applications Engineering and Technical Sales – ideal for someone who wants genuine customer responsibility and commercial involvement without spending their entire working week travelling around the country.

If you have a technical mindset, enjoy dealing with industrial customers and want a position where engineering knowledge and commercial ability are equally valued, we would be very interested in hearing from you
