ARCA Consulting is proud to be partnering with a specialist engineering business in Cambridgeshire to recruit an experienced Senior Hydraulics Engineer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a technically focused organisation where you will play a key role in the design, development, specification and technical support of hydraulic systems and equipment.
You will be involved throughout the engineering lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support.
The role would suit an experienced hydraulic engineer who enjoys combining technical design, practical hands-on engineering and complex problem-solving, and who takes ownership of delivering safe, reliable and commercially viable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop hydraulic systems, circuits and equipment to meet technical requirements.
* Produce and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Carry out hydraulic system calculations and component selection.
* Provide practical engineering support throughout manufacture, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning.
* Diagnose hydraulic and technical issues, carrying out root-cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
* Provide ongoing technical support and guidance where required.
* Ensure designs and engineering activities meet relevant standards, safety requirements and risk assessment principles.
* Use CAD, engineering software and technical documentation systems effectively.
* Work closely with engineering, production and supply chain teams to deliver projects to the required quality, cost and timescales.
* Manage priorities effectively and take ownership of technical outcomes.
* Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering processes and solutions.
About You
You will have a strong background in hydraulic engineering / fluid power, with proven experience designing and developing hydraulic systems and circuits.
Ideally, you will bring:
* Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, circuits and fluid power principles.
* Proven experience in hydraulic system design and circuit development.
* Ability to produce and interpret hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings.
* Practical experience of hydraulic installation, assembly, commissioning and fault-finding.
* Strong technical problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
* Good understanding of engineering standards, safety and risk assessment.
* Experience using relevant CAD and engineering software.
* Strong organisational and project-management skills.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
* A practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
An engineering degree or equivalent qualification in hydraulics, fluid power or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant professional experience and technical accreditation will also be considered.
