How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    We are seeking a passionate and committed English Teacher to join the school from January 2027 on a long-term basis, continuing through to the end of the academic year.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic English teacher to join a supportive secondary school environment and make a genuine impact on students' academic progress and confidence.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop strong literacy skills, analytical thinking and a genuine appreciation of English Literature and Language.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
    Teach English Language and Literature in line with the school curriculum.
    Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations.
    Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with a range of abilities.
    Establish a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
    Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
    Work collaboratively with the English department and wider teaching team.
    Support students with SEND and varying levels of literacy.
    Contribute to the wider life of the school and maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The school is looking for an English teacher who is:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
    Experienced teaching English at secondary level.
    Confident teaching KS3 and KS4.
    Strong in both English Language and Literature.
    Able to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
    A confident classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management skills.
    Passionate about raising student attainment and developing literacy.
    Reliable, professional and committed to a long-term role.
    Able to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
    ECTs are welcome to apply, as well as experienced English teachers looking for a January long-term opportunity.
