How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Group Sales Engineer

    Home-based - Milton Keynes / Leighton Buzzard area
    Regular UK travel

    We're looking for an experienced Group Sales Engineer to join a well-established engineering business operating across the environmental, water and industrial sectors.

    This is a commercially focused, customer-facing role for someone who combines technical understanding with a proactive approach to business development.

    You'll be responsible for identifying and developing new sales opportunities across maintenance, aftermarket services, system upgrades and new-build projects, working closely with engineering, proposals, projects and maintenance teams to turn customer requirements into commercially viable solutions.

    The Role

    As Group Sales Engineer, you will:

    * Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and prospective customers.
    * Build strong relationships with end users, consultants, contractors, operators and purchasing teams.
    * Identify customer challenges and match them with appropriate technical products and services.
    * Develop opportunities for planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, repairs, refurbishment and system upgrades.
    * Identify opportunities within existing installed equipment as well as systems supplied by other manufacturers.
    * Develop new-build, replacement and upgrade opportunities within water and wastewater odour control.
    * Support opportunities involving industrial air pollution control systems.
    * Conduct customer meetings, site visits and technical/commercial presentations.
    * Qualify opportunities based on customer need, scope, timescale, commercial position and likelihood of success.
    * Work closely with engineering and proposals teams to develop appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
    * Follow up quotations and support customer negotiations through to order.
    * Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline and provide reliable sales forecasts.
    * Monitor market activity, customer investment plans and emerging opportunities.
    * Represent the business at selected trade shows, industry events and networking activities.

    What We're Looking For

    You'll ideally have 5+ years' experience within technical sales, business development, engineering or maintenance.

    You should be comfortable discussing technical requirements with customers and translating those requirements into practical, commercially viable solutions.

    Experience within one or more of the following would be particularly advantageous:

    * Air pollution control
    * Water and wastewater
    * Odour control
    * Industrial process equipment
    * Environmental engineering
    * Engineering maintenance and aftermarket services

    You'll also need:

    * Strong business development and relationship-building skills.
    * A proactive, commercially minded approach to identifying opportunities.
    * Technical credibility and confidence in customer-facing situations.
    * Strong listening, questioning and problem-solving skills.
    * Good presentation, communication and negotiation skills.
    * The ability to manage your own workload effectively while working remotely.
    * Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
    * A full UK driving licence and valid passport.

    Why This Role?

    This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting out into the market, meeting customers and creating opportunities rather than simply responding to incoming enquiries.

    You'll have the chance to work across a varied customer base and develop opportunities spanning maintenance, upgrades and technically interesting environmental engineering projects throughout the UK
