How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor - Hybrid

    Attractive Salary + Benefits + Company Car/Allowance + Bonus
    36.5-hour week | Hybrid working | Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland

    The Opportunity

    Our client wishes to appoint a Quantity Surveyor for the Property Development Division.

    Their Property team delivers a diverse range of projects, from smaller-scale improvements through to major developments valued at up to £10m. With hundreds of projects delivered each year, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a commercially focused team and play a key role in shaping the future of the property portfolio.

    Working alongside experienced project management team, you will have the opportunity to influence projects from initial concept and feasibility through to construction and completion.

    This is a hybrid role based in Newtownabbey, with an average of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

    About the Role

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will take a key role in managing the commercial performance of a varied portfolio of property projects.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Supporting the development, modernisation and acquisition of properties through effective budget and cost management.

    * Developing clear cost metrics, reporting and analysis to support informed commercial decision-making.

    * Preparing capital investment budgets, appraisal papers and detailed budget analysis for management review.

    * Commercially managing projects from initial concept through to site delivery, working closely with project managers and design teams.

    * Preparing cost plans, project reports, budgets and commercial documentation for the Property leadership team.

    * Preparing tender documentation, contracts and purchase orders for contractors and suppliers.

    * Monitoring project costs and identifying opportunities, risks and potential savings throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and suppliers to achieve successful project outcomes.

    * Providing guidance, coaching and support to junior members of the commercial team.

    * Taking a proactive approach to resolving commercial and project challenges, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial mindset and relevant experience within the UK construction or property sector.

    To be considered, you will ideally have:

    * A third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.

    * At least 3 years' QS experience (property development/ PQS or contracting background)

    * Strong knowledge of current UK construction costs, including estimating across different trades, materials and construction methods.

    * Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction materials, specifications and methodologies.

    * Experience producing budget cost plans at different stages of the construction process.

    * Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office.

    * A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel throughout Northern Ireland.
