How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable family-run main dealer in St Helens, for the position of MOT Tester. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled automotive professional to join a well-established business that values quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The role of the MOT Tester provides a competitive salary, a supportive working environment, and clear career development prospects.

    Competitive salary of £36,000 per annum, with potential earnings up to £40,000 including overtime and incentives
    Permanent, full-time position with 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
    Flexible working hours from 8am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with Saturdays on a rota and time off in lieu

    Conduct MOT tests on a wide range of vehicles efficiently and to industry standards
    Ensure all testing procedures are completed accurately within designated times

    Provide professional advice and feedback to customers regarding their vehicles
    Support the workshop team with vehicle inspections and repair jobs as required
    Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service throughout all tasksRequirements:

    Relevant MOT Tester qualification and current UK testing certification
    Experience operating 4-post MOT testing equipment
    Strong understanding of vehicle safety standards and testing procedures
    Reliable, diligent, with excellent organisational skills
