Mechanical Fitter

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter on a 10 Month Contract based in Hertfordshire.

Role Summary

We are currently recruiting for experienced Mechanical Fitters to work on a major substation project in Watford, Hertfordshire.

The successful candidates will have proven substation experience and be competent carrying out mechanical installation activities within a high-voltage environment. National Grid Persons, CSCS and Telehandler certification are essential.

Responsibilities

* Carry out mechanical installation and fitting activities within a substation environment.

* Install and assemble mechanical components and equipment.

* Assist with the positioning and installation of large electrical and mechanical equipment.

* Operate telehandlers safely for the movement and positioning of materials and equipment.

* Follow drawings, specifications and installation procedures.

* Carry out bolting, torqueing, alignment and mechanical assembly activities.

* Work alongside electrical and mechanical teams to ensure project requirements are met.

* Follow RAMS, permits and site safety procedures.

* Maintain a high standard of workmanship and housekeeping.

* Report any issues, defects or safety concerns to the Site Supervisor.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter within the substation / HV industry.

* Previous experience working on National Grid substation projects.

* National Grid Persons (NG Persons) – essential.

* CSCS – essential.

* Telehandler qualification – essential.

* Experience installing and assembling equipment within substations.

* Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and specifications.

* Strong understanding of site health and safety requirements.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a site-based team.
