Heritage / Restoration / Specialist Main Contractor
A long-standing and highly regarded specialist main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join a major heritage and restoration project in Canary Wharf, East London.
The business has an excellent reputation within the construction market and is particularly well known for retaining and looking after its staff, with many employees enjoying long-term careers with the company.
The Role
The successful Site Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of a complex heritage/restoration project, working closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Managing daily site activities from mobilisation through to completion
* Coordinating specialist subcontractors and trades on site
* Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme
* Managing short-term programmes and daily/weekly site planning
* Supervising restoration, refurbishment and traditional construction works
* Maintaining high standards of workmanship across all packages
* Coordinating multiple trades working within live areas of the project
* Liaising with architects, consultants and client representatives
* Attending site meetings and providing regular progress updates
* Monitoring labour, materials, plant and subcontractor performance
* Carrying out regular quality inspections and snagging
* Ensuring all works comply with health & safety requirements
* Completing site inductions, briefings and toolbox talks
* Maintaining accurate site records and daily reports
* Reviewing RAMS and ensuring works are carried out safely
* Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays
* Working closely with the commercial team to manage variations and changes
* Coordinating deliveries and site logistics within a busy London location
* Ensuring the project is delivered to the required quality, programme and specification
* Supporting the successful handover and completion of the project
The Candidate
* Proven experience as a Site Manager within construction
* Strong background in heritage, restoration, refurbishment or specialist construction
* Good understanding of traditional and modern construction methods
* Able to manage subcontractors and multiple trades effectively
* Strong knowledge of health & safety and site procedures
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
* Comfortable working within a high-quality, detail-focused environment
