How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Customer Service Advisor

    Location: Stevenage Town Centre
    Salary: Competitive Hourly Rate
    Contract: Temporary, Approximately 6 Months
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
    Start Date: October 2026
    Parking: Free On-Site Parking Available

    We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected public sector organisation based in the heart of Stevenage. Due to increased demand, they are seeking a Customer Service Advisor to join their busy and dedicated team on a temporary basis for approximately 6 months.

    This is a fully office-based role, offering an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a reputable organisation while providing an outstanding service to customers.

    Please note: Applicants must be available to commit to the full duration of the assignment.

    The Role

    As a Customer Service Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for customers, handling a variety of enquiries and providing professional, efficient, and customer-focused support.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Accurately identifying and prioritising customers' needs, providing appropriate solutions and resolving enquiries to a high standard.
    Using databases and internal systems to log, update, and store customer information accurately while speaking with customers.
    Writing clear, concise, and grammatically correct messages to ensure customer enquiries and requests are fully understood and actioned appropriately.
    Delivering excellent customer service within a telephone-based environment.
    Building a complete understanding of customers' circumstances through effective listening and questioning techniques, whilst reviewing relevant systems and previous interactions.
    Responding to customer enquiries appropriately by considering all available information and previous decisions.
    Encouraging and supporting customers to self-serve through council and partner organisation websites.
    Providing guidance, advice, and navigational support to customers accessing online services.About You

    The successful candidate will have:

    Previous experience within a customer service environment, ideally telephone based.
    Excellent communication and listening skills.
    Strong data entry and IT skills with the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
    A professional and empathetic approach to customer interactions.
    The ability to remain calm and organised when handling a variety of enquiries.
    Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate written communications.
