Strategic buyer

MPI are looking for a Strategic buyer, for our client based in Milton Keynes

Monday – Friday 37.5 ours

Contract: 6 months to start, ongoing after

Job Purpose

The position holder ensures timely acquisitions of product or service from known sources of supply, by monitoring and proposing the best sourcing methods for different materials. Additionally, the Buyer may resolve issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery, do expedite and monitor supplier performance, from on time delivery to quality. Furthermore, the buyer is constantly monitoring the current supplier base keep required levels for price and quality and perform scouting in case suppliers are not reaching the desired levels on kpis, taking care of risk management.

Main Duties

* Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to meet the current and future needs of the business;

* Identify areas of risk in the supply chain, effectively prioritise, develop and implement plans to mitigate such risks;

* Reporting of KPI’s, analysis and development of improvement plans;

* Manage supplier performance by recognising both positive and negative achievements and communicate effectively to promote the pursuit of excellence and best practice both internally and externally;

* Continuously benchmark suppliers, analyse pricing trends, utilise cost models and cost break down to be able to reject price increases, to achieve price reductions and best value/total cost of ownership solutions;

* Scouting new suppliers in order to achieve price reduction target, improve quality and service.

* Work with mindset of strategic category management approach, spend consolidation and simplification.

Key Accountabilities

* Negotiates contracts with suppliers, issuing purchase orders and agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated; Manage Long Terms Agreement (LTA) with strategic suppliers

* Evaluates and monitors existing suppliers performance as to production capability, delivery, quality and other key business criteria, such as cost competitiveness, through regular benchmarking activities;

* Identifies and evaluates new potential suppliers;

* Launches Requests for Quotation.
