How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Health & Safety Compliance Coordinator
    Castle Donington, Derbyshire

Are you ready to build your career with a company that puts its employees and customers at the heart of everything it does? If you are a motivated, organised and customer-focused individual with a positive, can-do attitude, we would love to hear from you.

At Medstrom, we are proud to provide proven, well-evidenced products and services that support our busy customers and help make a real difference to patient outcomes.

Established in 2010, Medstrom has grown substantially while remaining patient-focused and committed to maintaining an open, supportive culture. In 2022, Medstrom became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), giving every employee a vested interest in the company and the opportunity to contribute to and share in our success.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Health and Safety Compliance Coordinator to join our Health, Safety and Environmental team at our Head Office in Castle Donington.

    The Benefits

    - Starting salary of £30,000 - £32,000, depending on experience
    - Contributory pension scheme
    - 33 days’ holiday entitlement, inclusive of Bank Holidays
    - Discounts and cashback on shopping, supermarkets and holidays as part of our rewards scheme
    - Salary sacrifice schemes, including Cycle to Work
    - Great training, support and mentorship
    - Free onsite gym for Head Office staff
    - Death in Service benefit provided
    - A birthday treat
    - The opportunity to be part of an Employee Ownership Trust and share in the associated benefits of having a stake in the company

    The Role

This varied and important role will support the effective delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental activity across Medstrom. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and wider teams, you will help ensure that key documents, communications, training materials, audits and compliance activities are well organised, accurate and delivered in a timely manner.

You will play a key part in promoting a positive safety culture by keeping colleagues informed, supporting continuous improvement and helping the business maintain high standards across health, safety, environmental and fleet-related processes.

Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be involved in a broad range of activities, from coordinating controlled documents and supporting audits to assisting with training content, accident and near-miss administration, compliance reporting and internal communications. This role would suit someone who is highly organised, confident working with documentation and systems, and able to build effective working relationships across different departments.

    Key Responsibilities

    - Create and distribute a range of Health, Safety and Environmental communications across the business.
    - Review, update and maintain controlled documents, handbooks, policies and procedures.
    - Support Health, Safety and Environmental meetings, audits and action tracking, including preparing presentations, minutes and follow-up actions.
    - Support the development and maintenance of risk assessments, safe operating procedures and training materials.
    - Create, update and allocate LMS training courses, toolbox talks and bite-size learning content on Health, Safety and Environmental topics.
    - Coordinate administration relating to accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring records and follow-up actions are maintained.
    - Support fleet-related administration and compliance activity alongside the Department Administrator.
    - Prepare and submit compliance reports relating to packaging and waste.
    - Support internal and external audits relating to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
    - Provide cover for the Business Administrator during periods of absence.

Hours of work: 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday, typically 8am - 4pm, based at Head Office in Castle Donington.

    About You

    - Experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental coordination or administrative role.
    - Ideally, an IOSH qualification or equivalent experience gained within a similar role for at least three years.
    - Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
    - Experience creating documents, presentations, training materials and reports.
    - Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel; experience with PowerPoint and Visio would be desirable.
    - Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and follow tasks through to completion.
    - Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels.
    - Full driving licence, as some travel may be required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role and wants to make a meaningful contribution to Health, Safety, Environmental and Fleet performance across the organisation.

In addition to the salary and related benefits, you will join a company that has grown extensively over recent years and, through our unique ownership model, continues to offer great career opportunities for those who are keen to progress.

Webrecruit and Medstrom are equal opportunities employers. We value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business, and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be
